One example of what a normal day will look like:

10:00 - 10:10 Calendar
Days of the week song / month song / letter of the day (o) / phonemic awareness (rhyming) / number of the day (8)

second group: Stickers on letter o outline
10:30 - 10:50 whole group lesson/activity
Students and I will review that to measure something is to see how big or small that item may be. We will talk about starting our measurement tools (magnet tiles) at the top of our item to be measured (house outlines, straw house, stick house, brick house). We will go through an example measuring a house with the magnet tiles, laying them out correctly, counting them and saying the number as the end result. Students will be able to measure the variety of houses. Afterwards we will discuss which house was shorter/taller.
10:50 - 11:00 Gross motor activity
On painters tape the students will do crab walks, monkey jumps, and bunny hops.
11:00 - 11:15 Snack
11:15- 11:20 poem of the month
Students will use stick figures to retell the 3 little pigs story.
11:20 - 11:30 Get ready to go home and read aloud a book together
This is just a snap shot of what a typical day might look like. Every day is different according to what we are learning, and how the children are progressing within our skills. I ensure to incorporate a variety of activities everyday. The focus of the lessons are based on our themes and the Utah standards for 3 year olds. Our days have hands on activities that get the children involved, phonemic awareness activities (rhyming, adding and subtracting sounds to words etc), a poem of the month, sensory play, our math concept, literacy concept and social/emotional concept.
